IWU Email Forwarding Now Available

Here is something from IWU regarding your myemail.indwes.edu email accounts. Previously, the university did not allow you to forward messages from your account for security reasons, but now you can have messages forwarded to your personal email accounts.

As a rule, instructors are now only provided with your myemail.indwes.edu email addresses by the university, and not your personal email addresses, and the university email addresses are the only approved method of communication for facilitators to use. If it is more convenient for you to email me with your personal accounts, I don’t mind that, but for emails to the entire class, I only use the myemail addresses. Your mileage may vary with other instructors.

Indiana Wesleyan University is pleased to announce new options for accessing your IWU email. You now have the option to set your IWU Live Mail Account to automatically forward messages to another personal email address.  This will allow you to consolidate your email so that you only have to check one mailbox.

Please understand that you will increase your risk of missing valuable email communication any time you engage in email forwarding.  Please note the following details:

• Forwarded messages are not stored in your IWU Live Mail account. If a forwarded message does not arrive at your alternative email address, there is no way to recover it.

• We cannot be responsible for email providers with which the university does not have a formal relationship. Email filtering, security settings, or technical problems on the part of your personal email provider may prevent delivery of your IWU mail. By turning on email forwarding you are accepting full responsibility for any lost or forwarded messages because IWU cannot guarantee delivery to other providers.  Public providers like Gmail will tend to have less trouble receiving your forwarded mail than a work place or smaller, more private provider.

• Also, please be aware that your account still needs to remain active.  You need to log in at least once every 365 days or your account will be deleted.
