True Confessions

When my niece started walking and becoming more aware of her surroundings, one of the first words she learned was, “Mine!”

Obviously, that made me unhappy when we went to their house and she was trying to quietly play by herself and a dimunitive person kept chasing her with handfuls of toys she had confiscated yelling, “Mine!”

Anyway, we’ve tried to teach sharing at our house. However, how surprised was I after a visit with her cousin that my daughter now had learned the “Mine!” trick. At first, I was upset that my niece was passing along bad habits. However, after reading this, I realized that none of us had to learn how to sin or be taught such habits. As the article says, no one had to teach us how to lie, to lust, to be envious, to be hateful, to gossip, to be prideful… we have all sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. The only thing we could be taught was to turn our back on all those things and follow Jesus.
